Austin Brown Dogs
The Shelter Dogs Who Rescue Us
I’m making a book!
Austin is the largest no-kill city in the United States, and for many of us, our fur families are as near and dear as our biological families. In particular, it’s the rescue dogs—with all their quirks and neuroses and their boundless capacity for love—that enchant us most.
AUSTIN BROWN DOGS: THE SHELTER DOGS WHO RESCUE US, created in collaboration with Weeva, celebrates that incredible bond between Austinites and our rescue dogs. Through contributed essays from adopters (along with photos of their beloved adoptees), this book illuminates the intimate stories of all the ways the dogs we’ve saved have impacted our lives.
Production of Austin Brown Dogs will be funded by donations from local dog lovers, and a portion of the proceeds will support local rescue organizations.
But to make it happen, I need your help!
Austin dog parents are invited to contribute stories and photos of their own experiences with rescue dogs — former or current furry family members who came to you from a shelter, foster home, or stray situation.
To contribute your story, click the button above and answer a few questions about your rescue dog. I’ll select the best stories for inclusion in the book (with a little editing) and feature the rest on social media and in other ancillary material.
To maximize the proceeds going directly to support local shelter dogs, I’m collecting donations to fund production, printing, and marketing. Individual contributors can donate via GoFundMe by clicking the button above. If you’re a member or leader of a pet-focused or pet-friendly organization, I would love to talk with you about corporate sponsorship opportunities. Please contact me to discuss how we can work together to support Austin’s homeless pets.
